Completing my manuscript, even one for a children's storybook, was no small feat and was rewarding in of itself. Getting it published brought it to an entirely different level.

I set out to write a children's story that would resonate not only with children, but their parents as well, to create something with a long shelf life, centered around themes that are enduring and have potential to become a family classic.
Based on the feedback and reviews I think I accomplished that. But even with modest sales, you can't know with any degree of certainty exactly what resonates with the buyer or what prompted the purchase.
However, recognition among your peer group is an expression of commendation of one’s talent and skills. So, I am extremely pleased and humbled to post that my first published children's book, The Adventures of the Bureau of the Missing Socks, has been awarded the 2022 Monster Story Winner: Children’s Fiction category, early readers ages 5-9 and the Monster Story 2023 Purple Dragon Award Honorable Mention for best Audiobook! I am equally thrilled to have been named a winner in the category of New Author 2023.
The story was inspired by my reflecting back over events in my own childhood, the themes of friendship, loss and self-discovery. Ruby, the protagonist in the story is an amalgamation of various iterations of myself at various times and stations in my life. The farcical whimsical nature of the story reads well for first time readers. While a bit of tongue and check humor keeps adults engaged as well.
