Millicent (Millie) Sutton is a pediatric clinician with over 30 years of experience caring for

children of all ages. She is a mother and resides in Westchester County in New York where she

enjoys exploring the many beautiful walking trails and parks in the Hudson Valley and

neighboring regions. As an extremely imaginative and curious child growing up in the rural

south, she often dreamt of distant, faraway places, entertained herself conjuring up fantastical

scenarios and creating stories around songs and music she heard on the radio.

Old African American folklore and her love of the great American short story was her

introduction to creative writing and storytelling. But it was the simple nightly bedtime reading

rituals with her daughter, Sara, rekindling a love of classic children’s tales that began her foray

into children's literature.
